Blake Update #4

Featured imageGood news from MMC today.  H is on the mend.  Up walking (gingerly), eating solid food (since yesterday – she likes pancakes, but I’m recommending chili), laughing, showering, peeing, etc.  God is good.  The acute danger we faced last week seems to be past.  We cannot tell you how much the prayers and notes and cards and food and and and mean to us!  H says that even though she hasn’t had the strength to respond to the 70 txts she got last week, she has read them all and they are all meaningful.  We are also so grateful to our parents who have done so much of the logistical work of driving kids around the world, making meals, washing clothes, etc etc etc.  I honestly don’t know how people without such a support system could make it through.

A couple upcoming things to pray about:

1.  Heather will be undergoing a bone marrow biopsy Monday.  Pray that it’s clean.

2.  Heather will be coming home Monday but she is still very weak.  Pray for patience for her as she settles in as a person who can’t go 1000 mph like she’s used to (and pray that she doesn’t beat me with a sack of nickels when I don’t respond to her as quickly as I should)

3.  We head to Barnes in STL on Tues.  Heather’s genetic coding is such that she has a much better chance of long term remission with the combo of chemo AND a bone marrow transplant.  So we are heading to Barnes for the transplant consultation.  We feel blessed that one of the top 4 hospitals in the US for bone marrow transplants is only 100 miles away.

We realize that there is still a long road.  The treatment for AML involves a few more sessions of chemo and now, the transplant.  However, God has shown he can sustain us and we trust that he will continue.

Now it is our turn to reciprocate. Continued prayers for strength through recovery. Blake be patient and H don’t overdo. Just mom advice. In Him our ultimate reward.

  16. Heather, Blake…One step at a time! Trust in the Lord with all your hearts and lean not on your own understanding. That may sound trite but is such great advice…from scripture. God has the last word. Keep a positive attitude and remember, you are covered in many prayers and God is in control. Love you both. Blessings…Joyce
